Frequently Asked Questions

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)

What is Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)?

BPO allows businesses to outsource administrative HR functions such as payroll processing, payroll tax administration, benefits administration, employee onboarding, and HR record management. Opes handles the day-to-day execution so your team can focus on running the business.

How is BPO different from payroll software?

Payroll software provides tools, but your team still performs the work. With Opes BPO, our specialists process payroll, manage benefits administration, and support employee-related administrative tasks, reducing internal workload and risk.

Who is a good fit for BPO services?

BPO is ideal for businesses that need help managing payroll and HR administration but do not require a full outsourced HR department.

How much time can BPO save my business?

Many businesses save several hours each pay period by outsourcing payroll administration, employee changes, reporting, benefits administration, and related HR tasks.

Can I keep my existing benefits broker?

Yes. Opes can work alongside your current benefits broker or assist with benefits administration and enrollment regardless of who provides your insurance coverage.

Professional Employer Organization (PEO)

What is a PEO?

A Professional Employer Organization (PEO) is a co-employment relationship that allows businesses to access large-group employee benefits, payroll administration, HR services, workers’ compensation programs, and compliance resources.

What is the difference between a PEO and ASO?

With a PEO, employees are generally co-employed by the PEO. With ASO, the client retains full employer status while outsourcing HR administration and support services.

Why do companies use a PEO?

Many organizations use a PEO to access better benefits options, streamline HR administration, improve compliance support, and reduce administrative burden.

Can Opes help determine whether PEO or ASO is a better fit?

Yes. Our team evaluates your workforce, goals, compliance needs, and benefits strategy to recommend the most effective solution.

Administrative Services Outsourcing (ASO)

What is an ASO?

Administrative Services Outsourcing (ASO) combines payroll administration, benefits administration, HR support, compliance guidance, employee relations assistance, and risk management into a comprehensive HR solution.

What is the difference between BPO and ASO?

BPO focuses primarily on administrative functions such as payroll and benefits administration. ASO includes those services plus strategic HR support, compliance guidance, employee handbooks, training, performance management support, and risk management resources.

Why would a company choose ASO?

ASO is designed for growing businesses that need a stronger HR infrastructure without hiring a full internal HR department. It provides expertise, processes, and technology to support growth while reducing compliance risk.

Does ASO help with compliance?

Yes. ASO clients receive guidance on employment laws, workplace policies, employee documentation, HR best practices, and other compliance-related matters to help reduce organizational risk.

Can ASO support multi-state employers?

Absolutely. ASO is particularly valuable for organizations operating in multiple states because employment laws, payroll regulations, and compliance requirements vary by jurisdiction.

HR Consulting

What HR consulting services does Opes provide?

Our HR consulting services include employee handbook development, HR audits, compliance reviews, leadership coaching, workplace investigations, compensation planning, policy development, and project-based HR support.

Can you help if I already have an HR manager?

Absolutely. Many organizations use Opes as an extension of their existing HR team for specialized projects, compliance reviews, training, or additional expertise.

Do you provide employee handbook reviews?

Yes. We can review existing handbooks, recommend updates, and develop customized employee handbooks aligned with your business operations and applicable employment laws.

Can Opes assist with employee relations issues?

Yes. We provide guidance on employee performance concerns, disciplinary actions, workplace investigations, documentation practices, and termination support.

How do HR audits benefit a business?

HR audits help identify compliance gaps, process inefficiencies, documentation issues, and employment risks before they become costly problems.

Technology & Payroll

What HR technology does Opes use?

Opes utilizes ProSoftware, a modern cloud-based HR platform that integrates payroll, onboarding, benefits administration, employee self-service, time tracking, reporting, and workforce management.

Can employees access their payroll information online?

Yes. Employees can securely access pay stubs, tax documents, benefits information, time-off requests, and personal information through the employee portal.

Does Opes handle payroll tax filings?

Yes. We manage payroll tax calculations, filings, payments, and year-end tax reporting as part of our payroll services.

Can Opes help with employee onboarding?

Yes. Our technology and service team streamline onboarding through digital forms, electronic document management, and employee self-service tools.

Compliance & Risk Management

How does Opes help reduce compliance risk?

We help businesses implement HR best practices, maintain required documentation, update policies, train managers, and establish processes designed to reduce employment-related risk.

Can Opes help with OSHA and workplace safety programs?

Yes. Our ASO services include workplace safety resources, training programs, accident prevention support, and risk management guidance.

What industries does Opes serve?

We support organizations across a wide range of industries, including professional services, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, nonprofits, hospitality, real estate, and multi-location employers.

Why outsource HR instead of hiring an internal HR department?

Outsourcing HR often provides access to a broader team of specialists, advanced technology, and compliance expertise at a fraction of the cost of building and maintaining a full internal HR department.
